Red Wine Roasted Pears
This recipe is terrific for the old-timey Keiffer Pears we have here in the South but it will work for any other variety (firm fruits work best).
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Wash Pears and slice in half. Remove seed core (no need to peel unless you prefer). Place cut side down in a baking dish.
In a small bowl mix together 1/2 cup dry Red Wine and 4 Tablespoons Sugar. Pour wine mixture over pear halves, roast in oven for 20 minutes or until Pears soften. Be sure to check the wine sauce a couple of time, if it cooks down add a little more wine or apple juice.
To serve place warm Pears on plates, spoon the reduced Wine Sauce over all, add a drizzle of Honey and thin slices of sharp cheese.
